The Customs and Border Control of the United States reported a tranche of compelling videos of Unidentified Aerial phenomena on August 9 of this year without any context or warning. Federal law enforcement released ten videos along with 387 pages of reports, which included news clippings and firsthand accounts of eyewitnesses. The footage shows forward-looking infrared cameras from different incidents of craft moving in strange ways in the sky.
However, these videos were leaked some years back, but the recent recognition of the U.S. government has reignited the discussion on flying saucers. Chris Mellon, a former Secretary of Defense for Intelligence official, said the videos will help the public better understand why this is a national security issue. Mellon said, “We’re getting, on the Defense Department side, 50 to 100 UFO reports per month – and this is happening globally.”
The videos document a baffling flying orb pursuing a fighter jet, as well as something that appears to be a propeller-powered hang-glider and yet another apparent floating orb hovering near a parked 16-wheeler truck. As reported by CBP, a 2013 video also resurfaced from Agua Dia showing an unidentified aerial object flying over the airport. The flying object then dipped into the ocean, split into two, and got lost in the water. The April 25, 2013, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico UFO video has been confirmed for the first time since the leak.
Remember, this is not the U.S. Government’s first mention of unidentified aerial phenomena. For the first time in 50 years, in May 2022, the U.S. Congress held a hearing regarding unidentified aerial phenomena after defense intelligence officials shared images and video of what a UAP may look like. They said that the government’s database has grown to report more than 400 cases of unidentified objects seen by people in the sky.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act on July 14, 2023, establishing a structure for how and when UAP documents would be released to the public. Schumer said in a statement, “The American public has a right to learn about technologies of unknown origins, non-human intelligence, and unexplainable phenomena. We are not only working to declassify what the government has previously learned about these phenomena but to create a pipeline for future research to be made public.”
Hunting for Life Across the Universe
Numerous UFO sightings have led to experts not asking whether life exists in the universe but when will we be able to find it with concrete proof. In a groundbreaking discovery, NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) recently detected tantalizing hints of life on a planet outside our Solar System. K2-18b can be a distant world residing in the vast expanse of space consisting of methane, CO2, and sprawling oceans complemented by a hydrogen-rich veil essential to support life.
Astronomers call this planet the ‘Goldilocks zone.’ The researchers, however, will confirm in a year whether these hints exist or have gone away. If the researchers cannot confirm signs of life, they will study 10 more Goldilocks planets already on their list.
Professor Nikku Madhusudhan of the Institute of Astronomy at Cambridge University, who led this study, says there will be a ‘major transformation’ in our understanding of planetary habitability in the universe in the next five years. He said that hints of life found in K2-18b ”would radically change the way we think about the search for life and raises the possibility that life is common in the Universe.”
