On the last day of their visit to India, Prince William and Princess Kate visited Taj Mahal, a place that has a special connotation from a personal point of view.
Taj Mahal was commissioned by the emperor in 1632 as a mausoleum to house his wife.
The royal couple arrived Saturday afternoon and when they were in front of Taj Mahal, they took a moment to admire the beauty of the white marble monument.

Then came the moment that was very anticipated by a lot of people: Kate and William stopped and sat on the bench made famous by William’s late mother, Princess Diana, who visited India’s most famous landmark in 1992.

The spokesman said, “[William] feels incredibly lucky to visit a place where his mother’s memory is kept alive by so many who travel there.”
Taj Mahal is the last major stop of the royal couple, before going home to reunite with their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Kate comes home with at least one special souvenir: a necklace she received from Queen Jetsun as a gift when she left Bhutan, the country that prides itself on being the happiest in the world.
Education minister Norbu Wangchuk said after the royal couple left Buthan: “I think our happiness index has shot up – this visit has been a blessing for Bhutan. It is wonderful they got to meet our King and Queen and the new prince. ”
