In a public statement made on Newsmax, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz called out Dr.Fauci for “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan laboratory in China where the virus had been thought to originate. “Gain-of-function” is term used in biological research whose aim is to increase the lethality of pathogens and viruses.
Gaetz stated that Dr.Fauci has “blood on his hands” for the apparent research and funding of the Wuhan lab using U.S. taxpayer dollars, but also for blocking any investigation into the lab-leak theory suggesting that the Covid-19 virus had been leaked from the lab and not, as Dr.Fauci, backed by the CDC stated, that the virus came from animal (bat) to human transmission.
In an interview on “Spicer & Co.,” Gaetz has been putting the spotlight on Fauci, “We know that the very type of research that erupted this virus onto the world was research that the U.S. taxpayer was funding in part and that Dr. Fauci and his friends were directly involved in.”
There is an ongoing investigation involving Dr.Fauci and the Wuhan lab gain-of-function research to confirm or deny Gaetz’s claims. Over 3,234 pages of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s emails have been released through a Freedom of Information Act request the first week of June, 2021.
In a recent congressional hearing, Dr.Fauci defended the funding, stating its purpose “was to study the animal-human interface, to do surveillance and to determine if these bat viruses were even capable of” infecting humans.
The email and “gain-of-function” investigation might close the case on the curious funding by Dr.Fauci of the Wuhan lab in China operated by the Chinese Communist Party.
This investigation is garnering international attention as it explores the origins of the Covid-19 virus, how it spread, and if there is any potential for legal action regarding those involved in the Wuhan lab research.
