Located in northern Arizona, several miles east from Page, Antelope Canyon is the reservation run by Navajo Indians. With its abstract shapes and breathtaking scenery, Antelope Canyon is one of the world’s most visited attractions.
Antelope Canyon consists of two separate canyon sections: Upper Antelope Canyon and Lower Antelope Canyon. In Antelope Canyon, you can witness the divine work of Nature. Upper Antelope is at about 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) elevation and the canyon walls rise 120 feet (37 meters) above the streambed. The popular ‘slot canyon’ is located in the center of the Navajo Nation, along with the LeChee Chapter, a certified local government of the Navajo Nation. Upper Antelope has been a popular spot for tourists, geologists, history lovers, and photographers who love natural scenery. A Navajo Tribal Park, Upper Antelope allowed no sightseeing of outsiders until 1997. That’s also why the local natural beauty is so well-preserved.
